Paul Dillon

Though the 1996-2000 NBC series "The Pretender" was only a modest hit, it afforded actor Paul Dillon one of the steadiest gigs of his journeyman career in the form of several dozen episodes beginning in 1997. He played the part of Angelo, a member of the show's mysterious Center intelligence force. Like the program's lead character, Jarod (Michael T. Weiss), Dillon's character was a one-time child prodigy; in his case, he had a fondness for the snack Cracker Jack and for hanging out in the Center's air ducts. The other major highlight of Dillon's resume is the role of Patrick O'Brien, the nonsensically Irish henchman to Mike Myers's Dr. Evil in the first "Austin Powers" movie. The character is a parody of Red Grant, a hit man in the James Bond film "From Russia with Love." In the Myers comedy, Dillon has a lucky charm bracelet and likes to place a charm on the body of each victim. In 2008, Dillon had a nice three-episode run with the F/X police drama series "The Shield," as Chaffee.
