Saweetie
American rapper, singer and entrepreneur Saweetie was born in Santa Clara, California with the name Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper. She began writing music in her early teens but did not pursue a career in music until she completed her bachelor's degree in communications at the University of Southern California. Saweetie began by posting videos of herself rapping her own lyrics over other artists' beats on Instagram. One of those freestyles became her first viral hit when she released a finished version on SoundCloud. The song, "Icy Grl" (2017), would amass more than 100 million views on YouTube. Her meteoric success would get her featured in a Super Bowl commercial in early 2018 along with a record deal, although she started her own record label, Icy Records, around the same time. Her debut EP "High Maintenance" (2018) was an immediate success. She followed it with her second EP "Icy" in 2019, featuring the single "My Type" which reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Not limiting her success to music, Saweetie began partnering with corporations to produce her own lines of jewelry, make-up, hair products and clothing, even her own meal at McDonald's in 2021. She was listed in Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2020 for her impact around the world. She made her acting debut guest starring on "Grown-ish" (Freeform 2018-) and has since appeared in various specials and reality shows. Saweetie released her fourth EP "The Single Life" on November 18, 2022.
