Seamus Dever

Seamus Dever was an American actor who was best known for his role as Detective Kevin Ryan on the crime drama "Castle" (ABC 2009-16). Born in Flint, Michigan and raised in Bullhead, Arizona, Dever began his professional acting career at the age of 6. He started performing in plays in and around his hometown, and continued honing his craft well into high school. When it came time to attend college, Dever stayed close to home, attending Northern Arizona University, where he earned his B.A. in drama. He continued his graduate studies at Moscow Art College, and then Carnegie-Mellon University, earning MFAs in acting from both schools. Although initially a pure stage actor, Dever started venturing into film and TV roles in the late '90s. He landed guest spots on shows like "Without a Trace" (CBS, 2002-09), "Cold Case" (CBS, 2003-2010), and "NCIS" (CBS, 2003-), and in 2006 appeared in the drama "Hollywoodland" (2006). Dever's first recurring TV role came in 2008, when he nabbed the part of Dr. Chris Ferlinghetti on "Army Wives" (Lifetime, 2007-13). The following year, in 2009, Dever landed his breakout role as Detective Kevin Ryan on ABC's "Castle." That role, which was Dever's first as a castmember on a TV show, would keep the actor working steadily for several years.
