To the outside world, the residents of Pepys Road have it all. House prices have rocketed, creating a street of multi-million pound homes... However, life’s other problems don’t go away just because you’ve won the property lottery. Petunia is growing increasingly worried that her dizzy spells don’t seem to be going away, but doesn’t want to turn to her daughter Mary for help. Meanwhile, Roger, banker and supposed family man, is hoping that this year’s bonus might bring him and his wife Arabella happiness – or at least be able to cover the cost of Bogdan and all the renovations he’s been doing on the house. Elsewhere, local shopkeeper Ahmed is hoping that his brothers Shahid and Usman might finally start to take some responsibility and make something of their lives. Whilst Quentina, traffic warden and asylum seeker is just looking to keep her head down – while being abused by the Pepys Road residents she is ticketing. All of this is watched by the successful but secretive Smitty, an artist who shares his own personal connection to Pepys Road.

When the ‘We Want What You Have’ campaign takes a nasty turn for the worst, the residents of Pepys Road demand greater action from the police. But whilst DI Mill searches for a breakthrough, other forces continue to transform the fortunes of many of the road’s inhabitants. Returning home after her Christmas sojourn, Arabella is troubled to discover that Roger is refusing to fall into line – and worse, rather than getting the house in order himself, he’s hired the attractive Matya to help with the kids. Meanwhile, Petunia’s illness continues to deteriorate, causing Smitty to reveal a big secret to his ailing grandmother. But her sickness doesn’t mean that old resentments are just swept away, and Mary is left struggling to cope with the decline in her mother’s health. When the Kamal brothers learn that their mother, Mrs. Kamal is planning to visit, Shahid hatches a plan to finally get rid of Iqbal. Whilst elsewhere, Bogdan’s womanising causes difficulties between him and Piotr, and Mashinko is desperate to learn of the fate that has befallen Quentina.

DI Mill’s investigation into the 'We Want What You Have' postcards takes him further into the lives of the Pepys Road community but he’s no closer to finding the perpetrator as the campaign continues. Mrs Kamal arrives on the street determined to get to the bottom of the strange postcards, but her visit is interrupted by the appearance of more pressing troubles for the Kamal family. Shahid meanwhile must deal with the repercussions of Iqbal’s visit. When Mashinko discovers what has happened to Quentina he’s baffled and heartbroken by her change of circumstances. Quentina’s hardship is intensified as she is forced to justify herself and her way of life in the capital. Elsewhere Mary calls upon Bogdan to start renovations on Petunia’s house. Whilst there he unearths a secret left behind by one of its occupants. For Roger an incident with a colleague at work has disastrous consequences for the life he and Arabella have built.

As their real feelings about one another are revealed, will they be able to ride out the storm? Elsewhere, Bogdan tries to change his life for the better. As he looks for love close to home, an unexpected temptation threatens to derail everything. Smitty's new artwork reaches completion and he makes a startling discovery on his doorstep. Will this lead to his biggest secret being revealed?
