Motion underwater is unique and unfamiliar; beneath the waterline, gravity takes a back seat, allowing aquatic creatures an astonishing range of fluid, innovative and often impressive forms of motion.

As life began moving from water to land, a new set of locomotory challenges had to be overcome; solid ground required a combination of adaptations and appendages to traverse, a challenge that land animals have met with phenomenal flair.

The final element for animals to conquer was air: the vast, boundless skies; nature's aviators defy gravity and effortlessly embrace the principles of aerodynamics, escaping earthly bonds to take flight.
