Davos 1917

Johanna Gabathuler, a Swiss nurse, returns from a Red Cross mission on the Western Front heavily pregnant. Back in Davos, where her family runs the Curhaus Cronwald, she gives birth. While she is still in the delivery room, her father secretly has the newborn taken away, believing it necessary to protect the family’s honor. For Johanna, the loss of her daughter sparks a painful struggle against both her family and her society.
