Taylor unearths new testimony from a witness to Slumach's execution while a deathbed letter written by a man who claims to have found Slumach's gold sends Adam and Kru on a dangerous glacial trek in search of the fabled motherlode.

The recent glacier expedition leaves Kru rattled and rethinking his approach, but clues left by an Indigenous voice from the past send the entire team north into the wild terrain of the Upper Pitt, leading to the discovery of an artifact possibly left by Slumach himself.
