After encountering a girl with healing powers, wannabe ninja Recca Hanabishi learns he has the ability to control flames.

Recca unwittingly agrees to a match against a mind-controlled Fuko, who possesses an orb that gives her power over the wind.

In the aftermath of Recca and Domon's battle with Fuko, they learn of a serious threat.

Yanagi takes a melancholic Recca to an amusement park, but when Tokiya kidnaps her and hides in the house of mirrors, Recca must follow him to save Yanagi.

Recca finds a kindred spirit in the new history teacher, who knows all about the ninja of the past; his visit to the teacher's home, however, goes wrong when enemies show up to kidnap Yanagi.

Yanagi meets her captor, Koganei, who explains what makes her so sought after.
