Part One: Ancient Voices visits many historic sites along the tourist trail in order to establish Egypt’s ancient history and its relationship with the ancient Near East. The locations visited reveal a diverse range of social lifestyles and religious beliefs that led to an exchange of ideas, trade and commerce between these regions. The culmination was the Hyksos administration in Egyptian history.

Part Two: Egypt’s Golden Age is the era which dazzles modern audiences. With the expulsion of the Hyksos Egypt expanded into Canaan in order to secure its northeastern border. Once established, vast amounts of wealth flowed towards the royal temple building projects that are visible today. Did the conditions for the builders become so intolerable that they voted with their feet?

Part Three: The Great Migration came as foreign lands fell out of Egypt’s control. Egypt had enjoyed 500 years of dominance but its withdrawal contributed to Canaan’s collapse. As we climb Sinai’s mountains and cross the Negev’s desert planes we investigate the final pieces of evidence. Using the biblical text as a travel itinerary reveals other similarities to the texts found on Egypt’s temple walls.
