In part one of the grand march, the houses of Labeija, Alpha Omega, Revlon, Makaveli and Lyght must execute the five fundamental elements of vogue – hand performance, floor performance, duckwalk, catwalk, and spins and dips – to impress the judges. Then, the game-changing “gag flag” is introduced, which each judge can use once to save a house from elimination. Later, the two lowest-scoring houses battle to the death before one is sent packing.
The younger members of ballroom enter the competition as two Kiki houses – Juicy Couture and Ada – are featured for the first time, joining the houses of Alan Mikli, Du’mure Versailles, and Yohji Yamamoto in part two of the grand march. Judges give mixed reactions to iconic theatrics and sloppy choreography before two more houses compete to earn a place in the first themed ball of the season
After the grand march’s fierce double elimination, the eight remaining houses must choose an animal to embody in look, trait, and fashion… and perform a Leiomy-inspired 360 dip. Singer Anitta joins the judges as they hunt for the best dramatic vogue performance and award this season’s first “superior house” title.
It’s Whorror night, and ghouls just want to have fun – and win the superior house title. As the remaining seven houses tell their most chilling stories through hand performance, actor, writer, and producer Issa Rae helps the judges dole out their first 10s across the board, before “butch” queens walk the runway for a fierce showdown.
With the art of anime serving as inspiration, the houses are tasked with creating their own ultimate fight scenes, which must incorporate martial arts and an element of ballroom assigned by the current reigning champs. Later, comedian, actor, and activist Bob the Drag Queen steps up as tensions rise over a hotly contested elimination.
Five houses, one mission: pull off a classic heist with a costume change, clever disguise or quick escape while a specialist serves soft and sensual vogueing – before selecting one house member to execute the old style of vogue. But when the judges clash over who deserves a spot in the final four, singer Jake Wesley Rogers finds himself stepping in as the tiebreaker.
