Man Against Crime

Ralph Bellamy stars as Mike Barnett, a wisecracking and savvy freelance private investigator based in New York, who takes on the most dangerous of cases, from jewel thieves and rescuing friends from con men to collaborating with a female cop to recover $200,000 worth of stolen diamonds. The series aired on three different networks during its 1949-1954 run. Starting on CBS, the series moved to the Dumont Television Network and eventually met its demise on NBC. It was briefly revived in 1956 with Frank Lovejoy starring as Mike Bennet, but it only lasted one season.
