Melody

Melody is introduced to her world of music, and we understand her circumstances and her gift. We see the obstacles the community faces in trying to fight back.

Melody veers between the impossible hope that she could win the scholarship. Still, she registers for the audition. Things escalate between Jack, Mrs Fredericks and the community.

Melody tries to learn sight-reading for the audition, which means she can’t help Nazli at the community centre. Jack steps up his efforts to recruit Junior.

Melody continues lessons and finds it hard going. Eric reminisces about the past and his lost love for Aunty Florrie. Junior attempts to cover up that he stole soccer boots.

Aunty Florrie refuses to teach Melody to read music after she didn't arrive for her music lesson. Eric attempts to be a protective father of Junior.

Melody decides to give up on music. Eric agrees to Jacks request that Melody work at the shebeen. Junior discovers that Eric sold his soccer boots.
