Polar Bear Family and Me

Journey to Svalbard, a remote Norwegian archipelago between Norway and the North Pole, to visit the birth den of Lyra, a polar bear mother, and her two cubs, Miki and Luka, as they emerge from the den to embrace their first spring.

Gordon and his team return to Svalbard in June to find Lyra and her cubs, Miki and Luca. Working with scientists, he tries to understand how the polar bears are surviving the unusual Arctic weather.

After six weeks without seeing Lyra and her cubs, Gordon doesn’t know whether the cubs are still alive. When he finally reconnects with them, he documents their challenges finding food in the changing Arctic.
