Legend says that whoever possesses both the Qing Luan Mirror and the Li Can Sword would be powerful enough to reunite a divided country. As the Northern Qi and Northern Zhou have been at war for ages, warriors from both sides have long sought these sacred treasures. However, there is only one who knows the location of these precious heirlooms, the leader of the Dragon Sect, Zi Mei (Lily Tien). Before meeting her untimely demise, Zi Mei passes on the location of the Mirror and Sword to the single surviving maiden of the Dragon Sect, Yuan Qiao Suo (Zhang Han Yun). With a stern reminder of the chaos which would ensue, should these treasures fall into the wrong hands, Zi Mei passes from this world, leaving Qiao Suo utterly alone. Determined to locate these valuable heirlooms and restore them to their rightful place, Qiao Su sets off on a quest to do just that. Disguised as the niece of an official of the Northern Zhou court, Qiao Su’s adventures soon lead her to cross paths with both the Prince of Orchid Hills, Gao Chang Gong (Andy Chen) and Yu Wen Yong (Peng Guan Ying), the Emperor of the Northern Zhou. Spending time with Chang Gong and Wen Yong only leads to confusion as Qiao Su begins to develop feelings for them both. Knowing that the Mirror and the Sword can only be possessed by the country’s true ruler, Qiao Su must decide which man will possess these items and which will possess her heart; but how? Based on the novel “The Royal Prince of Orchid Hills” by Yang Qian Zi, “Princess of Lanling King” is a 2016 Chinese historical romance drama directed by Lily Yip.
