Believing himself to be too good for the tiny town of Odda, Norway, and its equally small hospital, the resentful and arrogant surgeon Dr. Henry Johnsen does not like anyone -- and they do not like him. Luckily, a job offer from a more prestigious hospital in the city of Bergen means that he can finally leave and truly restart his career after losing everything three years ago. But when sudden symptoms lead to a self-diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumor, he struggles to maintain his usual sense of superiority over his patients and colleagues while keeping his terminal illness a secret and desperately searching for a cure.
