Super Bowl Classics

Highlights from the first AFL-NFL World Championship Game, which later became known as Super Bowl I. The first contest saw legendary head coach Vince Lombardi and his Green Bay Packers face the Kansas City Chiefs.

Super Bowl II saw Vince Lombardi take the Green Bay Packers back to the big game to try and retain the trophy. This time they faced an Oakland Raiders team that featured legendary pass-catcher Fred Biletnikoff.

Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath played in his first Super Bowl in 1969 as the New York Jets took on the Baltimore Colts. The Jets were a big underdog, with an AFL team yet to win a Super Bowl and the Colts on a 10-game winning streak.

The fourth Super Bowl - also known as the last AFL-NFL World Championship Game - saw the Minnesota Vikings take on the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans. Some 13 players from this game went on to enter the Hall of Fame, including MVP Len Dawson.

The Baltimore Colts faced the Dallas Cowboys in the first Super Bowl of the NFL's modern era. This game has developed an infamous reputation as one of the lowest quality in history, often being referred to as the 'Blunder Bowl'.

In the coldest Super Bowl ever played, the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins met in New Orleans. Neither had won the Super Bowl before, but the Cowboys were aiming to make amends for their loss in the showpiece event the previous year.
