After returning from Tokyo, mushroom entrepreneur Jaakko learns that he is slowly dying from a mysterious poison and sets out to find the person responsible; a local gang attempts to muscle in on Jaakko's company.

After being ambushed, Jaakko regains consciousness to find his attacker dead; he buries the body and makes plans to meet Asko for a peace parley at an abandoned pier.

As the rain arrives and the first new mushrooms begin to sprout, Jaakko and Sanni shadow Taina while she takes the Japanese visitors on a trip to the forest.

With his condition worsening, Jaakko searches for the truth, starting with Taina and Petri; when Jaakko finally unmasks the culprit, he tries to find peace before his time runs out.
