Recently widowed Harry Palmer (Simon Callow), 70, doesn't feel his age and rebels against society's injustices with his friends Margaret (Anita Dobson), a charity shop owner; and Charles (Bill Paterson), an old hippie.

Henry has an accident while riding his scooter to give the eulogy at a friend's funeral.
