Vidago Palace

Carlota de Vimieiro's impending marriage to César da Silva, the son of wealthy Brazilian plantation owners, will save her family from bankruptcy, but she has secretly fallen for the son of the Vidago Palace Hotel's concierge.

Dolores and Xoan, believing Pedro is dead, head to the Vidago Palace to inform his parents; Carlota confides her feelings for Pedro to her best friend, who happens to be César's sister.

Carlota finds Pedro and rushes to get medical help; Dolores and Xoan learn that Pepe has been taken prisoner by Inspector Lopes; Carlota tries to put thoughts of Pedro aside and focus on her upcoming wedding to César.

Carlota and Pedro have much to discuss, but her mother interrupts them before they have the chance; Carlota manages to meet Pedro, and the misunderstandings and manipulations the pair have endured come to light.

With their love for each other now cemented, Carlota and Pedro are determined to be together; Pedro decides to cross the border again; the da Silvas pressure César and Carlota to marry, against both of their wishes.

Carlota believes she must marry César to save Pedro from Lopes; São rebels against both their mothers' blackmail; Carlota is horrified to learn Lopes' true intentions.
