Seventeen-year-old Ronnie, struggling with anorexia, is admitted to a youth psychiatric clinic against her will by her mother. She resents the strict routines, the supervised meals, and her therapist. Her roommate Kimmi, a confident social media addict obsessed with her appearance, becomes both a challenge and a mirror for Ronnie’s own insecurities. As tensions grow between them, Ronnie must confront her fears, her anger, and the deep pain fueling her illness, slowly realizing that accepting help may be the only way forward.

Ronnie tries to manipulate the system by refusing daily weigh-ins, hoping to earn a disciplinary warning. Instead, she faints from low blood sugar during the attempt. Afterwards, she meets Melly, a rebellious patient known for her tough attitude, who offers Ronnie advice on how to get a warning properly. In exchange, Melly asks her to hide some forbidden sweetener in her room. What begins as a small act of defiance soon deepens Ronnie’s understanding of the strange social rules that govern life inside the clinic.

Ronnie begins to engage more earnestly in therapy and finally agrees to be weighed voluntarily. Her friendship with Gina and Esta strengthens, giving her a sense of belonging and hope. When Gina is cleared to leave treatment, Ronnie is proud but terrified to continue eating without her friend’s support. She finds comfort in Milan, a patient struggling with severe germophobia, and their unlikely friendship helps her take new steps toward recovery and self-acceptance.

Ronnie barely passes the clinic’s strict room inspection, while Kimmi panics after running out of makeup before a group dinner. Ronnie feels both excited and anxious about the evening, fearing she might lose control around food. Her therapist reassures her that she is ready. As the girls prepare for the outing, the shared anxiety brings them closer, reminding Ronnie that small victories matter on the long road to healing.

During the Halloween party, emotions run high and chaos fills the ward. For the first time, Ronnie feels strangely content, though she doubts the stability of her progress. Later, she confides in her friends Gina and Esta that she kissed Nick, leaving Gina stunned. Ronnie begins to question whether she is sabotaging her recovery by confusing affection with escape, as her emotions threaten to undo all the progress she has made.

When Ronnie breaks down, Kimmi surprises her by offering genuine comfort and encouragement. The moment deepens their friendship and reveals unexpected compassion beneath Kimmi’s glossy exterior. Soon after, Ronnie learns that Gina has left treatment abruptly, sparking anger and confusion. She lashes out at Esta, who admits she is tired of always pleasing others and finally wants to put herself first. Meanwhile, Nick struggles with feeling defined by his illness, testing both his bond with Ronnie and their fragile sense of hope.
