Angus Deayton

Before Angus Deayton was a successful comedic actor and the well-known host of British quiz shows like "Have I Got News for You," he hosted the parodic BBC Radio 4 series "Radio Active." He served as head writer when the popular sketch series moved to television in 1989 and became the satellite-TV skewering program "KYTV," in which he, along with many of his radio cast mates, reprised their roles from the radio series. From 1990 to 2000 he portrayed vindictive next-door-neighbor Patrick Trench in "One Foot in the Grave," a subversive domestic sitcom which details the exploits of a newly retired security guard and his long-suffering wife. The same year he joined the cast of "One Foot in the Grave," Deayton was offered the chance to host "Have I Got News for You," a satirical news panel show that has since become the BBC's longest continously aired panel series ever. After 12 years on the highly rated and often controversial show, Deayton was fired among allegations of drug use, among other improprieties. Since leaving the popular quiz series he's hosted numerous British reality shows, including the Gordon Ramsay cooking series "Hell's Kitchen" and served as main presenter on "Would I Lie to You?," in which contestants take turns revealing real and fictional truths about themselves.
