The Feed

In the near future, people’s brains are connected to The Feed. Every emotion, every memory can be shared instantly. Then something, or someone, starts to invade people’s minds making them act violently. Lawrence Hatfield, The Feed’s creator, turns to his son Tom for help. When Tom’s pregnant wife Kate goes into labour she tells Tom something is in her head. Is Kate The Feed’s next victim?

Tom discovers that Lawrence has been inside Kate’s Feed. Lawrence assures Tom that he just wanted to check that Bea was okay but Tom doesn’t believe him. He demands Lawrence lets him see Sara and Anton. After Tom questions them both, Anton shockingly kills Sara and then slits his own throat. Kate discovers Lawrence has somehow enabled Bea’s Feed without their permission whilst she was in utero.

At the offline retreat Max confides in Tom that he is going to propose to Evelyn. Meredith travels to the Mekong to try and sell them The Feed but there are violent protests and she has to make a dangerous escape. Max is behaving increasingly strangely as he is taken over by something in his Feed. He tries to attack Tom and Bea, but Kate shoots and injures Max and rescues them.

Tom and Evelyn take Max to Lawrence who performs a risky procedure to expel the Taker and reboot Max’s Feed. The operation is a success and Max seems to be back to normal. Kate decides they can’t wait any longer to get their Feeds removed and follows up on Max’s lead for a doctor who’ll perform the surgery, but her journey takes a dangerous turn when it brings her into contact with the Resisters.

Whilst examining Bea to remove her Feed the doctor is shocked to discover that she doesn’t have a transmitter. Tom and Kate confront Lawrence and he admits that he experimented on Tom as a child so that Tom could pass The Feed on to his children through his DNA. Lawrence admits to doing the same to other people without their permission and Tom makes the decision to publicly expose his father.

Tom and Kate prepare to leave for America but are delayed when they discover Evelyn and Max are missing. They track them to The Hub where they find they have been taken hostage by Eric Bell, a Taker. Lawrence arrives, with a breakthrough about the hack and Eric attacks him. Tom saves his father from Eric but Max stabs Lawrence and kills him, revealing himself to still be “taken”.
