Joe Anderson

While British actor Joe Anderson landed his biggest role as misanthropic vampire Alastair in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," he had to work his way through several lesser known parts before that break through role. He had small parts in the U.K. horror film "Creep" and on the television shows "Afterlife" and "Midsomer Murders." His role opposite Alicia Silverstone in the straight-to-video thriller "Silence Becomes You" was forgettable, though better things weren't far away. He played Ludwig van Beethoven's nephew in the biopic "Copying Beethoven" opposite Ed Harris as the tempestuous deaf composer, and Jane Austen's brother in "Becoming Jane," starring Anne Hathaway as the celebrated novelist and James McAvoy as her intended lover. Anderson attracted even more positive reviews after his roles as Joy Division bassist Peter Hook in the critically acclaimed "Control" and as a Vietnam-bound student in Julie Taymor's phantasmagoric musical ode to the Beatles and the '60s era, "Across the Universe." Other noteworthy performances include his starring role in the gruesome and tense horror film "The Ruins" as a German backpacker, a memorable turn as a suicidally depressed Cobain-esque rock star in the indie film "The 27 Club," and as a deputy sheriff in the remake of George Romero's thriller "The Crazies."
