Joel Gretsch

Actor Joel Gretsch was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and studied drama at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He soon headed out to L.A. to pursue his dream, and began his career with appearances on hit shows in the 1990s like the dysfunctional family comedy "Married... with Children," the primetime soap "Melrose Place" and the popular teen sitcom "Saved by the Bell." His first big break came with the role of Bobby Jones in the Will Smith/Matt Damon golfing drama " The Legend of Bagger Vance." A part in the alien abduction series "Taken" led to a role in Steven Spielberg' big budget sci-fi thriller "Minority Report." More work in the science fiction vein followed; his next part was on the sci-fi mystery series "The 4400," where he had one of the lead roles. When the show wrapped after four seasons, he was featured in the super power action film "Push" before landing the part of Father Jack Landry on the alien-infused TV drama "V." Adding to his science fiction mystique, Gretsch is married to Melanie Shatner, which makes him the son-in-law of original "Star Trek" star, William Shatner.
