Bonnie Root

Bonnie Root is a TV and film actor best known for her recurring role as Alexandra Thomas on the CBS police drama "Cold Case." Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Root got her start in that city's fertile local arts and theater scene before gaining a supporting role as the troubled young Amanda McAllister on the short-lived NBC drama "Trinity" in 1998. Root immediately followed that with a starring role opposite Gaby Hoffman and Tricia Vessey in the prep-school-based indie romantic comedy "Coming Soon," but she continued to focus on her television work with guest roles on a number of popular TV series. Following a brief stint on the popular soap opera "As the World Turns" in 2006, Root returned to prime-time series television with her role as Alexandra Thomas, crusading Assistant District Attorney and the love interest of Detective Scotty Valens (Danny Pino), on the hit police procedural "Cold Case."
