A 17-year-old girl is found burned and dismembered on a vacant lot in a middle-class neighborhood in Santiago, Chile; due to police negligence, the crime remains unsolved for 30 years, until the family manages to crack the case.

Lia tracks down Elmer, the investigator who handled the case 30 years earlier. She finds that he has become a writer and an independent investigator, completely jaded by the system and the police force.

Lía, Alfredo and Mateo meet with Marcela at San Gabriel Church, as Marcela insists it is the same place where Ana's tragedy took place 30 years earlier. Lía then confronts her with a growing suspicion.

During the parish youth camp, Ana goes through days of apparent enthusiasm that conceal a deep loneliness; away from her usual surroundings, she finds refuge in drawing and in the silent observation of those around her; in that context, she forms a particular bond with one of the young seminarians leading the group, a charismatic and ambiguous figure who inspires admiration among the other youths and awakens in her a mix of fascination, confusion and a need for affection.

Following Alfredo's death, Lía discovers a letter from her father that reveals who Ana's secret lover was; as the truth comes to light, the past resurfaces; Carmen breaks down at the revelation and a discovery in the family oven confirms the unthinkable.

Ana goes through a time of great fragility, surrounded by adults who, guided by their own religious and moral convictions, believe they know what is best for her. Carmen reinforces her role as the guardian of the family order.
