The Prussian Scare
S4, E19: Albert Gerber, a real estate agent and amateur actor, dies of a heart attack during a rehearsal for the play "Der Preußenschreck," in which he plays the title role. Shortly before, there was a loud argument with Gerber's eternal adversary, the pharmacist Kurt Wilke, who plays a Prussian in the play. Gerber, the "Preußenschreck", and Wilke, who had recently arrived the city, had disliked each other since childhood. At first, nothing suggests a violent death, according to Ulrich and Korbinian. But when forensic pathologist Ursula Kern discovers that someone has slipped Gerber, who has a heart condition, an asthma drug whose ingestion proved fatal, it is obvious that they are dealing with a murder case. Naturally, pharmacist Wilke comes under suspicion. He would have had no problem procuring and swapping the drugs. Moreover, his girlfriend Sissy Noll allegedly had an affair with the murdered man. Two plane tickets finally put the cops on the trail of the perpetrator. Korbinian not only has to deal with solving this intricate case. His sister Marie also puts pressure on him, on behalf of the city council, to replace the murdered man in the play and take on the role of the Preußenschreck.
