S2, E13: Junkyard owner Manfred Matuschik is annoyed: apparently, thieves have once again gained access to his scrap metal. When Hubert and Staller inspect the supposed entry hole in the fence, red liquid drips from a vehicle that has just come out of the scrap metal press. Staller's first suspicion is confirmed by forensic pathologist Dr. Anja Licht: it is human blood. It quickly becomes evident that the clueless crane operator Mick Wiesinger has nothing to do with the gruesome find. Yazid, the handyman, advises Hubert and Staller to take a closer look at Maximilian Bofinger. According to Yazid, Maximilian, who is involved with Johanna, the daughter of precinct commander Girwidz, doesn't seem to be entirely innocent. The police sergeants take the young man to task and learn that he was at the scrap yard on the night of the crime. He left the site in a hurry when a car approached slowly. Maximilian is able to identify the vehicle on the surveillance camera tapes, and the owner is quickly identified. It is Sebastian Weiß, whose house Hubert and Staller immediately visit. When Mrs. Weiß explains that she had already wanted to report her husband missing, the two suspect that the dead man must be Weiß – a suspicion that is soon confirmed by a DNA examination. While searching the house, Hubert and Staller notice that, strangely enough, one room is locked. According to Nicole Weiß, her husband wanted to surprise her with its design. The two investigators break open the lock and find a completely furnished nursery. The widow is stunned, as she herself is not expecting. When evidence is found in the house safe that the deceased has a child from a previous relationship, everything points to a family drama.
