Mutterlügen
S13, E3: Martin has decided to follow his heart and approach Anne. But then his girlfriend Franziska calls: Her father has had an accident – she needs Martin. On the job front, he is challenged by his patient Theresa Haas. A progressive neurological disease is weakening her more and more just when she and her husband are so excited about the baby they are expecting. However, it is a surrogate mother – Theresa's sister Greta – who is carrying their child. The plan was to spend an evening together with Anne, but Dr Martin Gruber is needed by Franziska. Her father has had a serious accident, and she asks Martin to accompany her to Munich for support. At the clinic there, he meets Franziska's mother Thea and is surprised at the tense relationship between the two women. In fact, the encounter strikes a little too close to home in general. At work, Martin is faced with a challenge from Theresa Haas. His patient has a progressive neurological disease that breaks out unusually late and violently, just when she is finally expecting offspring and wants to adopt a child. Her sister Greta has volunteered to be the surrogate mother and has had a fertilized egg from Theresa and her husband Thomas implanted in Belgium. Unfortunately, Theresa's disease is hereditary, putting not only her life at risk, but also that of her unborn child. However, Martin discovers that this concern is unfounded. Greta confides in him that the child is not her sister’s and asks for his secrecy. The situation is complicated even further by the fact that Theresa's illness puts the adoption in jeopardy and that Greta, who does not want children, is suddenly to become a mother. While Vera is in Hamburg, Alexander Kahnweiler uses his time for a new hobby. He has bought a motor home. A spontaneous housewarming party is held at the Gruber farm, where Hans is sorely missed and Martin and Anne become dangerously close again.
