S3, E4: A field tilled by a dead man! After a flat tire on new police bicycles leaves them out in an open field, Hubert and Staller want to ask a farmer for help who is driving by in the field – but he is sitting lifeless on his tractor seat. Farmer Ernst Poschinger has been shot dead, as has a small dog that must also have been at the scene of the crime. Hubert and Staller take up the case and come across a village in uproar. A new wind farm is to be built, and the project's proponents and opponents are irreconcilably opposed to each other. Since the victim had been leading the protest against the planned wind turbines, Frederic Isensee, the local head of the energy company, becomes the focus of the investigation. He had promoted his project by making large donations to local associations and had not shied away from personal intrigues. Even Police Councilor Girwidz is hoping for his support for an energy-saving competition through which he wants to establish himself as the head of a "model precinct". Meanwhile, at a local inn, Hubert and Staller get to experience firsthand the brutality of the wind power controversy. By the end of the day there's fur flying all over the place! In this turmoil, they get to know one of the opponents involved more closely: Toni Rissmeyer, best friend of the victim and fellow campaigner of the protest movement. Through him they learn that the people involved in the wind power dispute are all members of the local shooting club. Consequently, several villagers would have been able to shoot someone from a moving tractor. When Hubert and Staller then visit Frederic Isensee in his hunting lodge, they not only get to know the attractive innkeeper from a completely different side, they also come across a rifle, the possession of which Isensee had previously kept from them. Did he want to brutally eliminate his fiercest opponent in the wind power debate? In the meantime, Girwidz, the Head of the Precinct, is tormenting his employees with more and more new energy-saving ideas, which doesn't exactly make the investigation any easier. In addition, the owner of the shot dog keeps the whole department on their toes. She has two other animals that look exactly like the one that was shot. And this eventually gives Hubert and Staller an unusual idea about how to track down the culprit...
