The Making of a Hero

Alexander is born to the Macedonian King Philip II and his wife Olympias, and grows up in the royal palace at Aigai. He is educated alongside other children of the nobility, and among them his closest friend, Hephaestion.
EPISODE 2

Son of Zeus

After his victory over the superior army of Darius III at Issus, Alexander is welcomed as a liberator in Egypt and crowned Pharaoh. In the desert, he consults the Oracle of Amun, which confirms his divine origin as the son of Zeus.
EPISODE 3

The Master of Asia

Alexander defeats Darius III at Gaugamela using superior tactics and new weapons. He enters the Persian cities of Persepolis and Babylon, is proclaimed King of Persia, and uses the treasury to fund further campaigns.
