Ordered by Aunt Agatha to reform and marry Honoria Glossop, Bertie is perilously close to the altar. That is, until Jeeves masterminds the not too difficult task of convincing Sir Roderick and Lady Glossop that their potential son-in-law is quite mad, and obviously unfit to marry Honoria, thus saving Wooster from the horrors of matrimony.

Bertie is determined to propose to the "frivolous" Bobbie. Meanwhile, one of Bertie's chums, Tuppy has dropped Angela Travers after becoming infatuated with an opera singer. Aunt Dahlia wishes Tuppy to end the affair. Jeeves has a plan that involves Bertie singing in public in order to land Tuppy in the soup.

Bertie is invited for a spell at Twing Hall, while a sticky situation brews between his uncle and a waitress. Lady Wickhammersley has banned all gambling after Lord Wickhammersley lost the East Wing in a game of Shove Ha'penny. However, Bingo Little has a hot tip for the local sack race. Can Jeeves save them from themselves?

Bertie is forced into doing the prize-giving at Market Snodsbury Grammar School by Aunt Dahlia. Meanwhile, Lincolnshire's foremost newt-fancier Gussie Fink-Nottle is enamoured with Madeline Bassett, who is staying at the very Aunt's abode, Brinkley Court in Market Snodsbury. Bertie sees a way out of his trouble and only Jeeves can deal with the consequences of Bertie's plan.

Bertie returns to the emotional turmoil that is Brinkley Court to sort things out, beginning by reconciling Angela and Tuppy. In order to bolster teetotaller Gussie's courage so that he can hold the Market Snodsbury audience spellbound and then propose to Madeline Bassett, Bertie decides, as only he would, to slip him the mickey. Can Jeeves rescue Bertie from himself and unite Gussie and Madeline?

Bertie is sent to sneer at an antique cow-creamer by his Aunt Dahlia in order to bring down its price for Uncle Tom. Meanwhile, Gussie's engagement to Madeline is under threat and Bertie is summoned to heal the rift; something Bertie regards as imperative as the dizzy woman may set her sights on him! At this points the very special talents possessed by Jeeves come into play.
