Papyrus, a young Egyptian fisherman, receives a mysterious message: Egypt and the Pharaoh's daughter need him.

One night Seth hits many targets at the same time. In Thebes, the young novice priest Habou mysteriously loses his mind and the apartments of Princess Theti are desecrated.

Captured and taken away to an encampment in the middle of the desert, Papyrus and Theti discover that Tahar the Libyan chief is preparing to lay siege to Thebes.

Papyrus, Princess Theti and their friend Imhoutep are aboard a boat taking Pharaoh Merenre to Abu Simbel. At the last overnight stop before their destination, Papyrus has a disturbing nightmare.

Caught up in a violent sandstorm, Papyrus and Theti discover a fantastic sphinx with the head of a hyena. The next day, Theti and Tiya notice that Papyrus has disappeared from the royal palace.

Papyrus and Theti are carried off by a magic storm on the Nile to the ruins of Akhenaton, the city of Pharaoh Akhenaton and his wife Nefertiti, who disappeared two centuries ago.
