In 1323 BCE, Egypt was plunged into chaos following Akhenaten's attempted revolution. Paramessou, who had proven himself in the military field, succeeded Horemheb. The Ramesside dynasty was poised to rule.

After Horemheb's death, his deputy Paramessou became pharaoh, assuming the name Ramses I.

After the death of Seti I, a monumental reign begins: that of Ramesses II. From the beginning, he asserts his unique style, and expresses a strong desire for the restoration of Egypt's greatness and territorial expansion.

After five years of reigning, Ramsses the Great had already earned the distinction of being the most feared and respected among the martial pharaohs. He personally led his army with the aim of reconquering the kingdoms of the Levant.

Ramsses, known as 'Ramsses-great-in-victories', achieved divine status. His fame reached far beyond national borders. As pharaoh he acquired unprecedented power and prestige, making him considered a living god.

During his 77-year-old reign, King Ramses II worked to consolidate the borders of the Egyptian Empire, establish peace and build splendid temples. On his death, the future of the dual country was written by Merenptah, his successor and 13th son.
