Aml Ameen

Aml Ameen was a British actor best known for his roles in the dystopian science-fiction film "The Maze Runner" (2014) as well as his role as Capheus in season one of Netflix's "Sense8" (Netflix, 2015-18). Born and raised in London, Ameen got his start in acting at a very young age. He began appearing in plays as a young boy, most notably in a West End production of the musical "Oliver!" In his teens, Ameen also started to hone his craft with acting classes. He studied acting at the respected Barbara Speake Stage School in London. When he was 19, Ameen nabbed his first major screen acting role in the TV movie "Bella and the Boys" (2004). He followed that up with an acclaimed role in the British drama "Kidulthood" (2006). Then in 2006 Ameen nabbed what would prove to be his breakout role as PC Lewis Hardy on the long-running British cop drama "The Bill" (ITV, 1984-2010). His role on "The Bill" ended the following year in 2007. From there Ameen continued nabbing roles on television, including a guest spot on "CSI: Miami" (CBS, 2002-2012) and the short-lived NBC legal comedy-drama "Harry's Law" (NBC, 2011-12) starring Kathy Bates. Then in 2014 Ameen landed the lead in the blockbuster science-fiction film "The Maze Runner," which was his first major role in a Hollywood film. The following year he joined the cast of the Netflix science-fiction series "Sense8," which only grew his exposure across the pond. In 2018 Ameen starred in the crime drama "Yardie" (2018). The film, which was directed by Idris Elba, was adapted from a novel of the same name by the Jamaican-born British author Victor Headley.
