Gordon Currie

Canadian-born actor Gordon Currie is best known for his portrayal of Nicolae Carpathia, the Antichrist of the biblically themed drama "Left Behind." As a young man, Currie moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a professional actor. While there, he worked as a Ronald McDonald clown and shared an apartment with an undiscovered actor named Brad Pitt. In 1987, Currie broke into television with a one-off role on the popular undercover-cop drama "21 Jump Street," and earned roles in a number of movies, including a supporting role in the Steve Martin/Rick Moranis comedy "My Blue Heaven." Yet it was his role in the Rapture-themed Kirk Cameron movie "Left Behind" that has earned him the most fans. An adaptation of the popular book series, the film mirrors the beliefs and fears of Born-Again Christians, unveiling a world where sinners are abandoned in a disintegrating society bent on self-destruction. Currie proved an affecting Antichrist and reprised the role in 2002's "Tribulation Force" and 2005's "Left Behind: World at War."
