Teenage twins Sam and Ben Hazelton are uprooted from their home in Australia and sent to Germany.

It's quickly apparent to Sam and Ben that, although their hosts are aristocrats living in a magnificent castle, money is always in short supply; things aren't helped by the news that a fraudster is likely targeting the castle's valuable relics.

Jack wants to host a dance party at the castle in Germany; Ben DJs and Sam sings their songs live; Lili is thrilled, expecting to make a lot of money.

Lili believes that Hasenburg Castle is haunted by ancestral spirits, and that it is a good idea to make money with ghost tours; only Sam, the enlightened Australian, is skeptical until she suddenly hears eerie voices and doors slam.

The family gathers for the annual von Hasenburg family lunch.

Ben attempts to spend as much time with Sophie as possible; he manages to convince her to interview the sole survivor of one of the oldest families in town for a history project.
