Barbara Anderson

Barbara Anderson, a former Miss Memphis, was born in Brooklyn. She is a television actress most known for her role as Officer Eve Whitfield on the late '60s, early '70s television crime-drama classic "Ironside." Anderson's TV career began in 1966, at 21, when she made appearances on three different shows, one of them the legendary sci-fi series "Star Trek." In 1967, she had a single-episode part on the successful, if violent, detective series "Mannix," before landing her career-making role that same year, on "Ironside." The series starred Raymond Burr as the wheelchair-bound detective, Robert T. Ironside, who still manages to solve cases for the San Francisco P.D., with the aid of the likes of Detective Sgt. Ed Brown (Don Galloway) and Anderson's Officer Whitfield. With the role, Anderson earned three consecutive Emmy nominations for best supporting actress, winning one in 1968. She played Eve Whitfield through 1971, though the series itself ran until 1975. Anderson's other main TV role came the following year, as Mimi Davis in the original adventure-thriller "Mission: Impossible," about a covert operations unit. Anderson's other appearances included two episodes on the classic doctor drama "Marcus Welby, M.D.," in the early '70s, and one episode of the cop drama "Hawaii Five-O," in 1979. In 1993, Anderson starred in the tv movie "Return of Ironside," where she reprised her role of Whitfield.
