Tom Georgeson

British actor Tom Georgeson built a career working primarily in supporting roles in television and film, most visibly in "A Fish Called Wanda" and "Notes on a Scandal." Georgeson worked steadily through the 1970s and 1980s on various British series, with a recurring role on the science-fiction favorite "Doctor Who." The actor appeared regularly in the work of writer Alan Bleasdale, both in television dramas such as "Boys from the Blackstuff" and the feature "No Surrender," Georgeson's first. Georgeson achieved greater fame as the jewel-thieving gangster in the popular ensemble comedy "A Fish Called Wanda." Further television and film work followed, including the well-received mini-series adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel "Bleak House." Georgeson also took to the stage on occasion, and in 2002 earned a nomination for Best Actor from the London Evening Standard for his role in "Frozen" at the Royal National Theatre. Back on the screen, he showed his strength as a supporting player among top talent in the gripping drama "Notes on a Scandal," featuring the formidable pairing of Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett.
