Reid Ewing

Reid Ewing was an American actor who was best known for his recurring role as the good-natured but dimwitted Dylan on the Emmy Award-winning sitcom "Modern Family" (ABC 2009-). Ewing was born in Pompano Beach, Florida. As a teenager, Ewing had set himself on the path to becoming an actor when he enrolled in the Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach. Ewing left the Sunshine State for the Big Apple upon graduating to study acting in the professional acting school The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. In 2008, Ewing landed his first credited role as Jesse in the made-for-TV movie, "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!" His talent drew the attention of the casting crew for an upcoming ABC sitcom, "Modern Family." Following the lives of a diverse and eccentric extended Southern California family, "Modern Family" debuted to near-universal acclaim. Ewing was cast as the good-looking, good-natured, but vacuous teenager Dylan, who was the on-and-off boyfriend of Haley Dunphy (Sarah Hyland). In the following year, MTV cast him as one of the lead roles in MTV's teen thriller flick, "The Truth Below," about four friends who were trapped under several feet of snow during their ski vacation. Ewing temporarily left "Modern Family" to take a supporting role in the sitcom "Up All Night" (NBC 2011-12) as a young actor client of co-star Maya Rudolph's character Ava, then a press agent. But when the film "Bridesmaids" (2011) became a smash success, NBC execs demanded a bigger role for the movie's co-star Rudolph, whose character became a demanding daytime talk show host, and Ewing's character was dropped before the series ever aired. In 2013, Ewing was seen nationwide in Wendy's marketing campaign that reintroduced their famous 1980s commercial catchphrase, "Where's the Beef?"
