Tamlyn Tomita

Born in Okinawa, Japan and raised in California, Tamlyn Tomita's first foray into entertainment came when she was crowned the Los Angeles Nisei Week Queen at age 18. Her new title came with a trip to Hawaii, where she auditioned for and won her first film role as Kumiko in "The Karate Kid Part II" (1987). She memorably played Ming Li on two seasons of the soap opera "Santa Barbara" (NBC, 1984-1993) in 1987 and Lt. Cmdr. Laurel Takashima in the TV movie "Babylon 5: The Gathering" (PTEN, 1993) in 1993. Tomita would also appear in the segment of the comedy "Four Rooms" (1995) entitled "The Misbehavers," directed by Robert Rodriguez, as well as the acclaimed comedy-drama "Living Out Loud" (1998) and the disaster film "The Day After Tomorrow" (2004). Eventually, Tomita found a great number of opportunities in television, playing recurring roles like Jenny Dodge on the series "24" (Fox, 2001-2010) and Ishi on "Heroes" (NBC, 2006-2010). She would also play memorable characters on "Law & Order: L.A." (2010-11) and "Teen Wolf" (MTV, 2011-) before signing on to play Allegra Aoki on the medical drama "The Good Doctor" (ABC, 2017-).
