Although Katie receives a lot of pressure about the spring gala, she insists on doing it her own way and Greg throws a barbecue.

Katie figures out a new way to make the spring gala a success. Meanwhile, Greg attempts to be a fun dad and winds up adopting a dog while Katie is occupied with other things.

When Oliver reveals that he's so embarrassed by his parent's modest house that he'd rather not have a birthday party at all, Katie decides to teach him a lesson by throwing him a surprise party at home with all of his wealthy friends.
