When his skateboard-deck business venture hits the wall, graphic designer Ben agrees to fund a hustle proposed by good-times best friend Cam. The scheme morphs into downright desperation when Cam's cousin Rene gets out of jail, looking for repayment of an old loan.

Using $3000 they got via yet another high-interest loan from Rene, Ben and Cam buy up a roll of hot premium-denim material, then hit a series of dead ends in their search to find a manufacturer to make samples of their Crisp brand of retro-'70s jeans.

While Ben and Cam track down a tailor to re-imagine some jeans, Rachel rethinks her future after reconnecting with a friend in the Peace Corps. Eager to get a bigger marketing commitment for his fledgling drink, Rene makes a buyout offer his partners better not refuse.

Ben is upset on the day of Rachel's birthday and is even more upset to find out Darren is throwing her a dinner party. Ben tries to occupy his time by hanging out with Kaplan, Cam and Domingo.

Ben and Cam meet with a Japanese buyer but their jeans don't turn out the way they wanted them to. Rene has trouble locating a huge pile of cash and Rachel and Darren experiment with Ecstasy.

Ben and Cam worry about filling their quota for Hidemi but a retail employee helps them out. Rachel meets Darren's mother and he questions her about their commitment to each other. On another matter, Rene wants to confront the man who stole his money.
