During a live program, Silvio Santos loses his voice, to the despair of his team at SBT. He is advised to hastily call the young and popular Gugu Liberato to replace him and keep the day's advertisers, but is reluctant to accept this idea.
Silvio Santos is diagnosed with a polyp in his throat and flees the media circus around him while his wife Íris insists that he go to the United States for a series of special treatments.
