Young Luce is convicted of something she can't remember. She meets Daniel at the mysterious `Swords & Cross' reformatory and feels a longstanding bond with him.

Luce is sent to Sword and Cross, a cult-like rehabilitation facility, where she must serve time for a crime she doesn't even remember committing.

Luce manages to steal revealing photos from Howson's office. She and Daniel get closer at the lake. But then Luce is suddenly pulled underwater.

Howson has the creature that attacked Luce captured. Penn gets closer to the truth about her own past. Luce and Daniel read the decrypted files and are amazed.

Luce and Daniel are horrified by what they find in their files. They decide to flee. Their plan fails at the last second.

While Howson operates on Daniel, the other residents try to get to safety from the escaped Outcast.
