Kristopher Van Varenberg

When your father is high-kicking action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, you'd be expected to follow in his footsteps. Kristopher Van Varenberg is one of two children of Van Damme and fitness expert Gladys Portuges. Unsurprisingly, his first movie role came at five years old playing the child version of his father's character during a flashback in 1992's "Universal Soldier." In 1996's "The Quest," he once again played his dad as a child. In "Universal Soldier: Regeneration," he was finally allowed to be his own man with the character of Miles. He has continued to work with Jean-Claude throughout his movie career, both in front of the camera and behind it. Van Varenberg co-wrote 2010's "The Tower" and "The Eagle Path," made the same year, sees him acting alongside his father again, as well as stepping into the role of assistant director. Unlike his father, who parlayed his martial arts skills into a movie career, Kristopher Van Varenberg is only lightly trained in karate. Van Varenberg also has an interest in traditional animation, and he is developing several projects with Rodin Entertainment, his production company. In addition to his work in Hollywood, Van Varenberg is active in campaigning for animal rights. He met his girlfriend Ilaria Zamprioli, a makeup artist, on the set of "The Eagle Path."
