A Real Dream

Esther, Lorena, Malena, Samara and Sara are five young soccer players who live with a passion for a soccer team that is still at the amateur level. They prepare for their second opportunity to reach the highest level of Spanish soccer. The magnitude of their achievement draws the attention of Real Madrid; the ‘Taconero’ club will become part of Real Madrid as they begin their journey into women’s professional soccer. During the season, Tacón must hold their standing, but only a handful of players will continue with the team.

Aspirations and ambitions mix together in the locker room. The club turns to high-level talent to begin its project, bringing veteran, professional players with vastly different styles and characteristics. For 22-year-old captain Malena and starry-eyed Esther, the arrival of new forward Asllani brings contrast to what they worked towards. The two worlds reveal fundamental differences that could prove to be insurmountable during the season; the opposing sides — the new and the old — must learn to work together on the field of play.

COVID-19 brings the world and the women’s Primera División league to a halt. During lockdown, the players must get creative to stay in shape and maintain their closeness as a team. The history of C.D. Tacón has come to an end, and the protagonists experience an epic final run that will end with a club announcement: only a few will achieve the long-sought dream of becoming a part of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid faces the second season in its history with the major challenge of being among the best teams in Europe. A play-off against Manchester City will mark the immediate future of a renewed squad.
