Kay E. Kuter

Kay Kuter is an American film and television actor best known for his roles in "Petticoat Junction" and "Green Acres." After graduating from high school in 1943, Kuter studied at Pomona College and UCLA before graduating from Carnegie Mellon University. He gravitated towards acting, due to his family's show business roots, and made his feature film debut in the 1954 romantic comedy "Sabrina." He soon found steady work in such movies as "Guys and Dolls" and "The Steel Jungle" before transitioning to TV in the late '50s. He appeared in numerous hit shows during the early '60s, including "Perry Mason," "Mister Ed," and "The Outer Limits." In 1964 he landed a major role on "Petticoat Junction" as farmer Newt Kiley, which he reprised on the companion series "Green Acres." After the show ended in 1969, Kuter guest-starred on numerous shows, including "Gunsmoke" and "Quincy M.E.." During the '80s he appeared in the videogame fantasy "The Last Starfighter" and the horror thriller "Warlock," and returned to TV in the sci-fi miniseries "V." Kuter, who lent his voice to many videogames and animated series during the '90s, also found steady work in commercial voiceovers, most notably working for Hershey's Kisses.
