Illicit
"I'm not awfully concerned about the good opinion of society," free-spirited Anne Vincent says. She is concerned, however, about happiness. And she's sure that marriage to her live-in lover would jeopardize the happiness they now share. In an early-career role that infringed the Hays Office production-code dictates that were published but not yet enforced, Barbara Stanwyck stars as Anne, an independent woman devoted to her man (James Rennie) but not to the norms of her time. The supporting cast includes three very busy talents whose acting resumés for the year of Illicit's release totaled 30 films: Ricardo Cortez, Natalie Moorhead and Joan Blondell.
