Alison Swan

Filmmaker Alison Swan was born and raised in Bermuda, the daughter of John Swan, Bermuda's Premier. Swan attended boarding school outside of Bermuda, and completed her first short film, "Compenera," in 1993. Swan attended Bates College, a liberal arts school in Maine, graduating in 1988. In 1994 Swan enrolled at New York University where she earned an MFA in Filmmaking. During her tenure at NYU Swan received the Spike Lee fellowship after completing four narrative short films. After she graduated Swan planned to produce her first feature-length film, but, following problems with funding she went to work for producer Robert Stigwood. Swan later went back to Bermuda to make a documentary short film. In 1998 Swan's film "Mixing Nia," which she wrote and directed, was released. In 1999 Swan appeared as an actress in the series "Always and Everyone" (ITV 1999-2002). Swan next wrote the film "Nothing Like the Holidays," which was released in 2008. Following "Nothing Like the Holidays," Swan left the film industry to work in commercial real estate. In 2015 Swan earned a masters in real estate development at University of Southern California.
